“I’ve worked with Gary as my CEO Wingman and mentor for the last three years. Our first session in 2023 showed me that Gary can take in the full complexity of how I think and synthesis ideas across diverse domains, then distil the conversation into questions that get to what’s really going on. We can have a discussion that spans economics, strategy, leadership, technology, and future possibilities, and quickly gets into behavioural dynamics, causality, intuition, philosophy and spirituality. And he can see how each of those forces is influencing what I’m grappling with.
With Gary I can say exactly what I’m thinking, develop an idea that’s still crystallising, explore a paradox I haven’t yet resolved, or have a hearty argument with him when our views differ, and keep going until we find the missing piece. He’s relentless and won’t stop until we reach that point.
In 2024, during one of the most difficult periods in Genius Group’s history, I was making decisions that would have major consequences for me and the company. Gary listened with intent. He heard what I was saying while picking up on what I was circling around, what I wasn’t saying, and conflicts or resistance I hadn’t yet seen or acknowledged. Then he challenged assumptions I hadn’t questioned and asked questions I hadn’t thought to ask. That helped me decide which direction to take, with conviction and for the right reasons. He has a knack for seeing what I’m not seeing when I’m too close to the problem.
In our most recent discussion this year, I had several strategic directions I could take in growing the Group. Gary helped me look beyond the options I was considering and find the questions beneath the question. Those questions were all I needed. I knew exactly what I wanted to do and why.
And that’s what a conversation with Gary is like. He helps me see beneath the mental debate and reconnect with what I already know intuitively.
